Like many 8 year olds, I like bold primary colors. Red is my favorite.

What's the reddest killifish you can think of?

There are some pretty red Aphyosemion species, but they are not very common, so would be difficult to obtain. There are several common Nothobranchius species that have a lot of red, which would be much easier for you to obtain. Some of them are considered beginner's fish also. Nothobranchius guentheri has a red tail and is a begginer's fish. Nothobranchius korthause Red has a lot of red. There are others too, but I don't have much experience with Nothos. Although it isn't red, I think the Orange Australe is a very colorful and easy to keep fish that you might like.

The redist of them all is Nothobranchius Cardinalis a wonderful small fish. It is on aquabid from time to time. You have the Cingulatus the ones from Alabama/Louisiana have very very red fins one took reserve best of show at the AKA Convention., Niko 2010http://www.fishbase.org/Photos/ThumbnailsSummary.php?ID=3188
